Due date photo shoot

To celebrate his due date i decided to do a photo shoot the first of many. They say dont work with children and animals but add leads and low flo and its a little harder but i had fun. Poor Matt is in for lots of photo shoots when we go home.

He now weighs 2526g approx 5lbs 9 so still a tiny little one that is so nice to cuddle i didnt get him weighed on his due date as we are due today for a bath and weigh and i will get him measured aswell. Its hard to believe that all of the clothes he is wearing are 0000's still wearing ooooo's but some are getting a little small.

Due date

Yesterday was Matt's due date he has come a long way in 13 weeks. As i cuddle him I am amazed at his progress and so lucky to have him, he is one amazing little boy.

I have been playing with my scrapbooking program and these are a few i have done so far. I am going to do a photo book with pics from his birthdate to his due date.

Goodbye to CPAP

Hopefully this will be the last time we see Matt on CPAP as from yesterday he is on low flo full time, we have to see how he copes. From his blood tests he was going well on 8hrs each cycle so hopefully he will be coping just as good today, one step closer to going home.
He got weighed the other day and his weight was 2468g now what good numbers they were but now he weighs 2526g so he is getting to be a little piggie. It is Matt's due date today so i am planning on getting HEAPS of pics today so i should be able to do a update with new pics soon.
The other night i brought a soft toy for Matt and put it in his cot and he went to grab it a couple of times clever boy.

Matt still needs his low flo and cpap but while we were having a bath they had to replace his tapes so we able to have a bath with no direct oxygen on, there was a puff bag not far from him to give him a bit of oxygen and he coped very well. We are on low flow now 6hrs a day and 6hrs on cpap and he is coping very well. We have also had 2 breast feeds now and he is coping well and enjoying them. New weight 2252g so he is getting bigger and soooo cute.

Catch up

Okay a little catch up while i have a little time. We have moved bays so that means we are very stable it is still part of NICU but less intensive and less noisy and busy. When we went there on Monday the nurse in charge came in and said baby simpson to bay 5 we were happy and packed up all of Matt's stuff and was ready for the move, but it took another 2hrs for the staff to move the other baby down to another area, in the end our nurses moved the other baby so we could move in. So now Matt has a new address Bay 5 bed 5 and so far is doing well there lol. When we moved they decided to but him on bubble cpap and he is doing well with that it just means they dont need to move the more expensive machine over there.

Also Matt has reached the 2kg club and i think he now weighs 2031 i think but i think he gets weighed again today.

Boob contact didnt go aswell as expected but it really wasnt his fault. I was running late so he was already STARVING you would think we have never fed him for ages so all he wanted was FOOD and NOW. He is so like his dad and loves his food. Well he fussed around at the boobs and didnt want to play so we started feeding him via his tube and somehow we must have pulled the tube out a little and all of a sudden he brought up all of his milk. So the poor baby had to have the tube removed and positioned in the nose, but he had gunk in his nose so he had to be suctioned out then it went in ok. Thats how we got the pic of no tapes etc on his face but it was the quickest pic taking we could do and probably not the best angle, his cheeks looks so huge lol.

After he was fed and dressed again the poor baby still had to have his third eye check up and that must be painful for them as they have to keep there eyes open with clips and his eyes looked really red when we got back but the news was all good his eyes are much better and we only need a check up in 6 months.

Also i forgot to mention that Matt has his 2 month injections on Monday aswell. The dr and said he would have 1 on Monday and the 2nd one on Tuesday, but when the nurse came to do it they said to do the 2 on the same day poor baby did well let off a scream but was easily calmed down, the nurse noticed Matt has a birth mark on his leg a cute little freckle. Matt must be the toughest as all of the other babies had there injections over 2 days and he coped well only needed another 3% oxygen for the day.

Low Flo !!!!

On Thursday Matt started "CYCLING" where they take him off the CPAP for 2 hrs and put him on LOW FLO for 2hrs each cycle. Then back on CPAP for 6hrs. This was his first go on low flo and he did well and last night he went well, so far so good. They will try and wean him off cpap altogether but it may mean he might come home on low flo we dont know yet if they will try and wean him off low flo as well. When we went and saw him yesterday morning he had just had his physio assessment and he did well, they said he liked it and we passed with flying colours he doesnt need any further treatment. So our little boy is doing so well and he is so happy most of the time. We are getting closer and closer to coming home but still a few weeks to go but we can see the end of the road which is good, then we start another journey of just loving this little boy as a family together at home.

This is a sneak peak of what Matt looks like without tapes and breathing things on. He looks like he has FAT cheeks but i think this time the camera did add on pounds to his looks. We had to take the pick very quickly so we might not have been on the best angle. We have so much to update about but little time but the big news is we have moved bays so closer to home we come. Also we have reached 2kgs and on bubble cpap getting closer to trialing no cpap at all or low flow to start. We tried boob contact yesterday but that was a real drama that i will explain later.
